Description

The PK100 EC BLUE air extractor from Prima Klima has an adjustable fan speed. This powerful extractor ensures effective air renewal to promote the healthy growth of your plants. Its 170W centrifugal motor delivers an airflow of 580m³/h. With 100 mm diameter inlets and outlets, you can connect it to aluminium, PVC or acoustic ventilation ducts, or to accessories such as silencers, anti-odour filters, etc.

Thanks to its ball-bearing-mounted wheel, you can achieve very low noise levels (2.5 times quieter than its category). The rear-curved position of the polyamide fan blades produces 35% more airflow than an axial extractor. The rearward-curved position of its polyamide fan blades produces 15% more airflow than an axial extractor.

Made entirely from fire-retardant polyamide (shell, casing), it is easy to mount on the floor, wall or ceiling. It's the ideal choice for medium to large indoor growing spaces.

(FAQ)

1. What are the main features of the PK100 EC BLUE extractor?

  • Connection diameter: 100 mm
  • Maximum airflow: 580 m³/h
  • Motor type: EC (Electronically Commutated)
  • Speed: Single-speed or dual-speed, depending on the model (check the specific product sheet)
  • Power consumption: Typically lower than a standard AC motor
  • Noise level: Reduced, thanks to the EC motor and the design of the housing

2. What is the difference between an EC motor and an AC motor?

  • EC Motor (Electronically Commutated):

    • More energy-efficient
    • Generates less heat and noise
    • Allows more precise speed control (if equipped with a suitable controller)
  • AC Motor (traditional Alternating Current):

    • Less expensive to purchase
    • Less efficient in the long run
    • Consumes more energy than an EC motor for the same airflow

3. What is the purpose of an air extractor in a grow space or ventilation system?

An air extractor is primarily used to:

  • Renew the air inside the grow space or the ventilated room (providing oxygen and removing CO₂).
  • Manage temperature (removing hot air generated by lighting, electrical devices, etc.).
  • Control humidity (preventing mold or fungus).
  • Filter the air if a carbon filter is connected, to reduce odors.

4. How should I properly install the PK100 EC BLUE extractor?

  1. Choose the location:
    • It’s generally recommended to install the extractor high up, as hot air rises.
  2. Securely fasten the extractor (on a bracket, wall, or ceiling) to avoid vibrations.
  3. Connect the ducting (flexible or rigid ducts, 100 mm diameter):
    • Use clamps or duct tape to prevent air leaks.
  4. Wire up the power supply according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  5. Check the airflow direction (arrows on the housing).

5. Is the PK100 EC BLUE extractor compatible with a speed controller?

  • Most EC motors can be regulated with appropriate electronic controllers (e.g., PWM or specific EC controllers).
  • However, make sure your extractor model is compatible with a regulator (some single-speed models are not).
  • If the device is labeled as “single-speed,” it may not be controllable with a standard variable controller.

6. What maintenance is required?

  • Regularly clean the fan blade and grille to remove dust and particles.
  • Check connections and clamps to prevent air leaks.
  • Monitor the carbon filter (if connected) to maintain proper filtration and replace the filter material according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

7. What is the average lifespan of the PK100 EC BLUE extractor?

  • EC motors generally have a longer lifespan than AC motors, often listed between 40,000 and 60,000 hours or more, depending on usage and maintenance.
  • Regular maintenance will extend the life of the unit.

8. How can I reduce noise and vibrations?

  • Use clamps and soundproof ducts (insulated ducting).
  • Install vibration dampeners or anti-vibration mountings for the extractor.
  • Ensure the ducting is properly tensioned: excessive bends or unnecessary length can create additional turbulence.

9. Can a carbon filter be connected to the PK100 EC BLUE extractor?

  • Yes, it is recommended to reduce odors and unwanted particles.
  • Make sure you choose a carbon filter compatible with the diameter (100 mm) and the airflow rate (580 m³/h) of your extractor so as not to overly restrict airflow.

10. Where is the best place to install the carbon filter?

  • Typically, before the extractor (on the suction side): the room air passes through the filter first, then is expelled by the extractor.
  • This setup protects the fan from particles and helps keep the system cleaner.

11. Is the device water-resistant or moisture-proof?

  • Air extractors are usually protected against ambient humidity but not waterproof against direct water contact.
  • Avoid any direct contact with water or installing it in an overly humid environment without additional safeguards (humidistat, dehumidifier, protective housing, etc.).

In a nutshell:

EC Blue air extractors are equipped with direct current (EC) motors, which offer superior energy efficiency compared to traditional alternating current (AC) motors. This translates into reduced energy consumption and savings on electricity costs

Speed Control: These extractors offer precise fan speed control, allowing growers to adjust the airflow to the specific needs of their plants. This fine control maintains optimum conditions throughout the growing cycle.

Quiet performance: EC Blue motors operate extremely quietly, reducing noise pollution in indoor growing spaces. This creates a more comfortable environment for growers.

Durability: Thanks to their high-quality construction, EC Blue air extractors are durable and reliable. Electronic components are designed to withstand prolonged use, providing a long product life.

Easy installation: These extractors are generally designed to be easily installed into existing ventilation systems, allowing quick and simple installation without the need for advanced technical skills.
